Yesterday, Boy Genius dropped some whispers hinting that the long awaited OS 5.0 update for the BlackBerry Tour 9630 was coming in the next 2-3 weeks and that it was also bringing a new Push To Talk feature. As it turns out, the files needed for that new data plan using push to talk features has been turning up in the past two OS leaks for Tour owners. And from info gathered in the forums, Verizon is seemingly not really trying hard to hide it from end users either

As has been rumored before and stated many times since on the blogs and in the forums, this update device to the original Tour (which now has WiFi, optical trackpad and more) won’t be released as a Tour but rather as a Bold, so any doubters can take this new user guide as one more piece of evidence. It looks like Verizon will be bringing Curve 8530 users a special treat coming soon. We got our hands on a PDF that shows an update to OS 5.0.0.508 is on the way. No exact date is mentioned for the release, but it should be within the next week or two.  Highlights of the update include: Simplified lock-key function Overall improvements to battery life Improved video streaming Improved Voice Activated Dialing function Message enhancements Bluetooth improvements   This will be an official Verizon release for 8530 users

We’ve been waiting to see exactly how this one turned out for everyone. But as most of you know the past few days for Verizon Storm 2 owners have been rather interesting. BerryScoop got tipped the news about the possibility of Verizon being reissued Storm 2 devices due to a screen issue.

Since the rest of the smartphone world also got a Foursquare app update, it doesn’t really come as a surprise the BlackBerry version got bumped to version 1.7. As SXSW gets set to kick off in Austin, Texas, Foursquare and its location based counterpart Gowalla have kind of been in heated battle for the attention of users in attendance. It’ll be a bloody badge showdown for sure
