It was an interesting week at BlackBerryCool because of all the news around the Pearl 9100, the Storm2 and the BlackBerry (Bold?) Slider.

The bad press and feedback from the BlackBerry Storm2 has been never ending.

There are rumors that a major Telco, most likely Verizon, will be reducing its stock of, and possibly cutting entirely, the BlackBerry Storm . The rumors are building that returns for the device series have been unacceptably high it hasn’t been the touchscreen success RIM was hoping for. This would be a real shame because the upcoming WebKit browser from RIM would make it a really great touchscreen device

Back at the BlackBerry Developer Conference , the guys at Concrete Software gave us a preview of their latest game PBA Bowling 2, which uses Open GL 3D graphics for a new visual experience in BlackBerry gaming. With PBA Bowling 2, you can choose to play a single game, a tournament, or the spare challenge – progressing through the games unlock special bowling ball textures and patterns.

Booting up a BlackBerry is incredibly frustrating and slow. Usually it’s best to take the old proverb “a watched pot never boils” and just leave it in your pocket for a of couple minutes and check back. At least with OS 5 we get a status bar showing relatively how long it will be until you can get busy on your BlackBerry again.

The BlackBerry Developer Conference is showing off an impressive use for the Storm2: a ball-shooting tank robot of destruction powered by the latest BlackBerry. The robot connects by Bluetooth and conference attendees are invited to race around an obstacle course and compete for the fastest time. First prize gets a Storm2 and the robot, and 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place all get a Storm2 as well.

Vlingo has announced that they are available for the BlackBerry Storm 2. Right now, you can download Vlingo for Storm 2 and Storm 1 if you have upgraded to 5.0.

The first, Need for Speed Sprint by EA, was by far the most impressive. The game uses 10 years and millions of dollars behind EA’s 3D mobile graphics engine and it looks amazing on the Storm2

Yes, the biggest improvement in the Storm 2 is the typing technology and the ease at which you can type on the touchscreen. Typing on the Storm 2 is a more reassuring feeling versus the 9530, and it is far easier than typing on other touchscreen devices such as the iPhone.
