RIM have posted a message on their Facebook page saying that some exciting things are coming for BlackBerry Messenger in the days (and weeks) ahead. They’re asking everyone to double check that they’re running the latest version of BBM (5.0.0.57) and we’re guessing whatever the news is will require the latest version. If I had to guess what the news will be, I’m going to guess it isn’t a major update to BBM, as we would have heard something by now.

RIM have issued a statement recently to Arab News saying that they are investigating reports in the local press that Saudi regulators have asked for access to BlackBerry Messenger for security concerns . Reports last week said the Communication and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has asked RIM to allow the telecommunications regulator access to monitor messages sent by BlackBerry Messenger.
