Elecite have launched a new theme called Ember for the Curve 8900, Bold 9000 and 9700, Storm 9500, and Tour 9600. Ember is a dark theme with 6-7 customizable icons, a weather slot, 9-11 locked “block” icons and a Today Preview area for the 8900, 9500, 9600 and 9700 devices. Xobni for BlackBerry is officially out of beta testing and available to all.

Barely There Case for BlackBerry Storm 2 (see Bold 9700 ) The Barely There is Case-Mate’s new line of sporty cases for the BlackBerry Storm2 and is also available for other BlackBerry device models including the Bold 9700, 9000 and Curve series. These cases are designed to protect the design of the BlackBerry Storm2 while allowing more of it to show.

In an effort to give us all a better feel for the BlackBerry Slider aka 9700a, the folks over at BBLeaks have got some more pics for us to gaze over. These pics give us a look at the back end of the device as well as give us a size idea by being compared to a BlackBerry Curve 8900.

In terms of news I’d say it was a slow week for the BlackBerry Nation. On the bright side, there were some great apps that launched in both App World and the BlackBerryCool store

It looks like Verizon will be bringing Curve 8530 users a special treat coming soon. We got our hands on a PDF that shows an update to OS 5.0.0.508 is on the way. No exact date is mentioned for the release, but it should be within the next week or two.  Highlights of the update include: Simplified lock-key function Overall improvements to battery life Improved video streaming Improved Voice Activated Dialing function Message enhancements Bluetooth improvements   This will be an official Verizon release for 8530 users

Jim Balsillie announced that RIM have signed an accord with Singapore’s Flextronics to manufacture the Curve 8520 in Brazil. This is part of a greater market strategy at RIM to target Latin America, which Jim once described as an upcoming Western Europe

I’m not positive but I’m pretty sure that’s a BlackBerry Curve 8900 from T-Mobile and according to the owner, it has 4,150 diamonds (30.51 carats) and it’s wrapped in 18K gold . The price tag on the phone is over $200,000 USD but there doesn’t seem to be any info on where to buy

RIM’s stock has been upgraded and their stock is rising. BMO Capital Markets upgraded RIM from market perform to outperform citing improving demand.

It was an interesting week at BlackBerryCool because of all the news around the Pearl 9100, the Storm2 and the BlackBerry (Bold?) Slider.
