The United States Air Force is implementing new security policies for its 30,000 BlackBerrys it has in its inventory. Apparently the current security policy is too weak and they are making the following changes: Users will no longer have the capability to send or receive text messages with attached photos or videos

Tumblr finally have their official BlackBerry app available for download and so far it looks really good.

As trentm in the forums posted , Tumblr has rolled out their own official BlackBerry application. Personally, I’m a Posterous fan myself but if you frequent using Tumblr you’ll want to check the app out for sure. From what I can tell, all native Tumblr functions are in place within the app.

RIM have posted a message on their Facebook page saying that some exciting things are coming for BlackBerry Messenger in the days (and weeks) ahead. They’re asking everyone to double check that they’re running the latest version of BBM (5.0.0.57) and we’re guessing whatever the news is will require the latest version. If I had to guess what the news will be, I’m going to guess it isn’t a major update to BBM, as we would have heard something by now.

Back during the BlackBerry Developers Conference last year, Research In Motion made the announcement that the BlackBerry Push APIs would be available to all developers for free within the first half of 2010. In keeping with their promise, Research In Motion has made available today two levels of push services.  BlackBerry Push Essentials - is a free service that developers can incorporate into their applications and allows them to push content to their customers with unparalleled immediacy.

According to a Crowd Science survey, 40% of BlackBerry users would like to switch to the iPhone as their next smartphone. The survey also notes that a third of BB users want to switch to an Android phone. What does this say about RIM’s future?
